Hydroponic systems grow plants in nutrient solution without soil, and root-zone dissolved oxygen is one of the limits on yield. Regenerative blowers commonly supply continuous air to nutrient reservoirs and deep-water-culture beds, feeding an entire facility from one unit through a distribution header rather than from dozens of small pumps.

The blower delivers air to diffusers or airlift devices, where it drives gas transfer into the nutrient solution. One properly sized blower is usually more efficient, quieter and more reliable than many small units, and the oil-free design means no lubricant enters a food crop.

In deep-water culture, roots sit in solution and a few hours without air can cost a crop. Growers also expand incrementally, so a blower sized exactly for today’s bed count runs out of capacity quickly; discuss planned expansion at the point of selection. Blower heat is a real factor in sealed grow rooms, so intake air location should be planned rather than assumed. Air to Air heat exchangers are an option to help take heat out of the air leaving a blower.
